Fight Hunger in North Portland

Hunger and food insecurity are all too real for hundreds of our families. Nearly 30% of North Portland children (4,600) are food insecure, lacking reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. Since 1988, St. Johns Food Share has been feeding the need for healthy food in our community - while keeping 350,000 pounds of fresh food out of the waste stream each year. St. Johns Food Share has helped 20,000 families avoid going to bed hungry. Our unique food sharing model is all-volunteer and membership-based.

Your gift to Bridging the Gap ensures North Portland residents can lead healthier lives. Together we will empower St. Johns Food Share to:

  • Expand efforts to feed North Portland immigrants, refugees, elders, the working poor and other underserved communities
  • Create FoodSmart,  providing culturally-responsive nutrition, cooking and food preservation education to the community
  • Increase our food donors to fill our warehouse, store and extended food distribution network

Each contribution of $250 or more will be doubled by a generous local foundation. That means your $250 donation is worth $500 to Food Share!

Give today so Food Share enters 2018 - its 30th Anniversary - stronger than ever. Every dollar of your fully tax deductible donation counts - and will be matched 1:1!
